What is Health Coaching?

A Health Coach is a partner with you in your behavior change process. This process involves supporting you as you set goals, unearth values & strengths, and access motivations to encourage the development of sustainable healthy behaviors and attitudes.  I believe that you are the expert on your life and that you have the capacity to get where you want to be with your life and health!

Why hire a health coach?

As a certified health coach I can spend the time with you to figure out what your personal health and wellness issues are, how they intersect and affect you holistically and help you develop strategies to overcome them.  Whether you want to lose weight, reduce stress, sleep better or lower the risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.  Health coaches fill in the gaps between what the healthcare industry traditionally provides and what many people need. My ultimate goal as a health coach is to improve your quality of life through effective and healthy habits and changes. That means focusing not just on physical health, but on overall health—including mental and emotional wellbeing. 

What are some topics I could be coached on?

The misconception is that health coaches only coach on diet, exercise and weight loss, but there are a myriad of other topics that affect your health. Managing stress, getting more sleep, and staying off social media aren’t your standard diet and exercise discussions, but they are issues that can have a huge impact on your overall health and wellbeing.

When discussing your health we will not just talk about eating vegetables and getting enough exercise.  There are many areas of life that impact your overall wellness.

Spiritual, emotional, intellectual, physical, social, environmental, occupational, and financial wellness are all categories that make up your individual wellness.  If one or more of these is out of balance, life can feel stressful and unsettling. While the common topics of health coaching may be more about the physical category, I encourage you to think beyond that and focus on the other categories as well.

As a health coach, it’s important for me to meet you where you are at and work towards your vision.  It is an individual process, and we will focus on you and on celebrating successes!



How much does coaching cost, will my insurance pay for it?

You cannot use your insurance benefits for coaching, although you may be able to use your HSA.  The cost  is $100 per session.
