“If you are going through hell, keep going” – Winston Churchill.
Good old human resilience, something I ponder on every day. Personally I feel that the human mind and body have a multitude of talents, one being resilience. Although, sometimes our bodies and minds need assistance, that’s where I come in. I find that once we have experienced a traumatic event that is overwhelming psychologically, that one needs aid to reconvene their previous mental state of sanity. Some may think the old Ben and Jerry’s ice cream binge is enough; agonizingly this is but a myth.
Knowing full well that one type of therapy is not sufficient for all; my training in a bouquet of diverse therapies helps aid in finding the perfect fit for each client. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Functional Family Therapy (FFT), and lastly Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). As a therapist in her fourteenth year of counseling, finding the right fit for my clients, who consist of all ages, has become a natural habit of mine. At home I was blessed with an angel as my child. My daughter always keeps me on my toes. My parents are also near me and we enjoy spending time with them doing whatever tickles our fancy that particular day.
For my entire life learning has been something that has lured me in. My education background is quite colorful. My degrees are: Masters in Counseling (SDSU), Masters in School Administrations (SDSU), and Bachelors in Elementary Special Education (DSU). Overall, these degrees aid to gather a full understanding of each specific person that I see. Working with all types of people and children results in a fun filled case load that leaves me, and my client, satisfied at the end of each day.
